Comfortable Shoe But Not For MeAug 21, 2009
By I. Peters I just received my Teva Mountain Scuffs but unfortunately will have to return them. Let me say though that the shoe itself is very comfortable. It feels true to size and width, almost a bit on the large side, and it also has enough room for the toes to wiggle.
The reason I will have to return is that the back part of the shoe uncomfortably rubs against my Achilles tendon. I didn't expect this when I ordered these shoes because they have a very soft and stretchy fabric all around the upper edges (see picture). However, the hard leather part of the shoe heel is too high for my particular foot shape and with every step rubs against the tendon regardless of the fabric. So if you are like me and occasionally have trouble with shoes that are too high in the back, you might want to consider a different style.
Another point I noticed but which would not have caused me to return them in itself is that the insole is non-removable and does not provide sufficient arch support (I have had issues with plantar fasciitis and learned to look for that). I would have to use these with my custom orthotics.
I would love to keep this shoe because everything else is great but the rubbing against the tendon is not something I could live with.

TREAD CAME OFF!Jul 19, 2010
By afalter I wore these very cute shoes for maybe two weeks (outdoors, indoors, normal wear) and the tread came off of the bottom. I tried to glue it back on but then it came off in another place. Very bad shoe!

The Tread Came off Mine tooOct 08, 2010

It's so disappointing they fell apart after just over a month (too late to return them). They were comfortable and adorable on my wide feet! If they had actually held together, I would have bought the other two colors.
I have held onto them though as I hope at some point to pull apart as much of the tread as possible and then see if I can reglue it all with Shoe Goo (yes, I like them *that* much). :) If that doesn't work, I'll be upcycling the suede. Might as well get *something* for my money (even though I paid clearance prices for them).

Lost outsole after 5 hours of useJul 13, 2010
By Heidi I bought the TEVA mountain Scuff for it's comfy feeling and for the Spider Rubber outsole and have been convinced of both of them, at least as long as the outsole lasted! Not even five hours into hking on even and well groomed trails the outsole has been detached from the middle sole. What a disappointment. After that I found reviews from people who suffred the same fate as I did. What a shame for such a comfortable shoe. The size fits well, you have enough space within the shoe and the traction of the Spider Rubber sole is very good on dry and on wet surface.

Too short--sizing off.Sep 15, 2009

I wear a true size 9 and when I put these size 9 Tevas on, they were too short with my toes hitting the end with each step. Also if your feet are on the narrow side, the toe box area is really really wide. The material is high quality though and they were very soft. But now I know why they're such a good deal!
