 Like New Balance, but hate this shoeAug 08, 2010
I purchased these New Balance MR 740 BB shoes 2 months ago. I have worn other New Balance shoes and liked them. Right now I wear Adidas and an older, different pair of New Balance that I love.
I purchased the MR740 BB because of their great styling and looks. However, they are the most uncomfortable shoes I have ever worn. I cannot even wear them to the gym or jogging. I have to just wear them as a casual shoe to work. I haven't been able to exactly pinpoint the reason for the suffering they inflict on my feet. But it is almost like there is no padding at all in the insole. In fact, it is worse than no padding, because my foot is actually happier barefoot, than in this shoe. I am very disappointed and will probably have to throw these shoes away, because of how they hurt my feet. They are the same width as my old New Balance, so I cannot figure out what the problem is.
Buyer beware, even if you have worn New Balance before, don't just buy this shoe based on looks and expect the same good fit and feel as your old New Balance. These shoes do not live up to the standard of previous New Balance lines. This shoe was a big disappointment.

This is my first pair of New Balance shoes. After wearing only Nike's for years, I decided to take a chance. I'm glad I did. These shoes are well padded and very stable, in spite of the open, mesh construction of the upper. If your planning on running outdoors in the cold, the open top may be a little too breathable. It's fine for me though.
I got this shoe on clearance, and when the time comes for buying another pair, I would buy these again in a heartbeat.

I've only just started jogging so I needed a good shoes since I have bad feet. The MR740 gives me all around support from my toe box all the way to the heal. With all the rain lately I've continued jogging and they've continued gripping the road. Only downside is they're white and I'm active so now I need to clean them.

good price for a mid-line new balance shoe. high quality. great fit and comfort especially if you need wide width.

The shoes that came out of the box were not the shoes I ordered, although the box was labeled correctly. Fortunately, the shoes I received were the right size, although not the same style (black walking shoes, not white running shoes). Rather than deal with the return, and because the shoes I got were worth at least what I paid for the ones that never showed, I kept them for the winter. They are very comfortable.
But I can't say anything about the MR740s, because somehow they ended up in the wrong box.
