Not the usual Ryka greatness...Feb 25, 2009 Several years ago, I bought my first pair of RYKA shoes on a whim. I absolutely LOVED them and wore them until they fell apart, literally. Got a second pair, not quite as great but still wonderful.
They broke down so I purchased the RYKA MOA MOA on Amazon.
Well, they are so terribly uncomfortable. I can't even wear them around the house or out and about because on the toe, where the leather meets the mesh, the seam line rubs and rubs in the center of my big toe. I got my usual size (1/2 size higher than your normal shoe size).
I can't run, walk or workout in any way with that annoyance.
The shoe looks good, I like the style and lightweight mesh but I just cannot put up with the constant toe rubbing.
It's a pity I waited too long and cannot return them to Amazon.com even though they are still new. Amazon really needs to extend their return policy.

Cushion Shoe Lacks CushioningMay 28, 2008 I was really disappointed in these shoes. I have been running 3-5 days a week for about a month in Ryka's I bought three years ago. I had not run in them previously but they had covered a lot of miles walking. I really wanted to replace them with something newer, but being an impoverished student and running shoes being so expensive I didn't have a lot of options. I was really happy with the old Ryka's, so I thought I would try some of the new ones. (I'm not sure what model my old ones are. They are too worn to tell.) The MoaMoa was billed by Ryka as a cushion shoe, so I thought it would be a good choice.
The first time I ran in them the balls of my feet were sore. That's never happened to me with a running shoe before. The forefront of the shoe really seems lacking in cushioning. I also noticed that the heel slipped slightly on one foot. My old Ryka's never did that. After a couple runs I started to have pain in one ankle. A couple days later my ankles and feet swelled up, which has never happened to me before. Ever. I also started to experience some knee pain and now find my knees hurt too much to run. (I'm 31 and have never had any major injuries.)
Needless to say I am very unhappy with these shoes.
On the plus sid they are light weight and nice-looking. (I got the white, silver, and teal colored ones.) I did not find that they ran small the way many people say Ryka's do and was able to wear my usual 8.5. I have somewhat narrow feet and I did feel these shoes were a bit too wide for me.
These shoes might be fine for someone who is not prone to problems with their knees or ankles. I think as I am getting back into running after being away from it for a long time I need a shoe that is going to take better care of me. These were not it.

Runs SmallMar 25, 2008 The shoes seem to fit alot like the less expensive Nike models, which I wore for years. They are, in my opinion, really short, abnormally short.
So short, that I wonder if they were just missized. I can wear them but my longest toe practically touches the end of the shoe, with no space left at all. Usually if a shoe isn't going to fit in the size I always buy, it's going to be a little large, not small. I would say this shoe is about 3/4 of a size smaller than it should be. I also didn't really notice anything comfort wise about the shoe that would make me recommend them. They're okay for every day hacking around use. Also, they didn't send the color that they were supposed to send, and I'm not too happy with the color they did send (Footlocker, that is). I wear something else to exercise in.
